RICHMOND — Charles William Tevis Jr., 71, of Richmond, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at his home.

Charles was born on March 18, 1941, in Richmond and was the son of Charles William Tevis Sr. and Mildred Clay Tevis, both of whom preceded him in death.

He had served in the United States Army. Charles was a line worker at Square D and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: three sons, Carlos Walker, Charles Tevis III and Brian Tevis, all of Richmond; two daughters, Tracy Douglas (Craig) of Georgia and Amanda Tevis of Richmond; two stepsons, George Walker and Terry Walker; four brothers, John Tevis, Freddie Tevis, Tyrone Tevis and Robert Tevis; seven sisters, Barbara Jean Jones, Brenda Peyton, Mildred Gentry, Caroline Kavanaugh, Shirley Patterson, Beverly Avery and Joyce Miller; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Charles Tevis will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at St. Paul AME Church with Rev. Alvin Farris officiating. Burial will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2012, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell.
