LANCASTER — Carl Pence Todd, 68, of Lancaster, died Friday, August 16, 2013, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born June 11, 1945, in Richmond, Ky., he was the son of the late Herald Elwood and Josephine Pence Todd. Carl graduated from Model High School and earned his B.S. at Eastern Kentucky University. He then earned his M.A. at Webster College in St. Louis.
He served the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam War.
Carl had been a high school teacher and coach and retired from Jack Mann Scales (Toledo Scales) as a sales engineer. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Kirkwood, Mo., and The Gideons International. Carl was an elder and member of Grace Presbyterian Church and a leader of Bible Study Fellowship in Lexington. He loved his farm and lived his faith everyday.
Carl is survived by his wife, Carolee Todd; his mother-in-law, Bernice Nicholson of St. Louis; a sister-in-law, Kimberly (Joe) Luberda of St. Louis; and a brother-in-law, Robert (Alice) Smith of Aurora, Colo.; two nieces and two nephews, Robin Bartels, Stephen (Nicole) Smith and Brittany and Michael Luberda; his godchildren; five great-nieces, Audrey Bartels, Emma Bartels, Alexis Smith, Blaire Smith and Henley Smith; and two cousins, George Pence of California and Donna Peters of Oregon.
The funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Monday at Grace Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Shane Terrell officiating. Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion.
Pallbearers will be Conrad Long, Lance Churchill, Jim Mitchell, Bob Perrone, Richard Daume and David Price.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Stith Funeral Home, Danville.
