W.R. “Cotton” Isaacs

BEREA — Longtime Berea businessman W.R. “Cotton” Isaacs, died Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center at the age of 88.

He was born in Berea to the late Leonard and Grace Preston Isaacs.

Mr. Isaacs was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II, a member of the Berea Baptist Church, Berea Masonic Lodge No. 617 and Cleveland Frost Post of the American Legion.

At one time he served on the Berea Board of Education. For many years he ran Berea Novelty Company and Bluegrass Restaurants.

Mr. Isaacs is survived by: his sons, William Patrick Isaacs of Naples, Florida, and Robert Jeffrey Isaacs (Vickie) of Paris, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Lauren Paige Isaacs of New York City, Malikca McPeek (Jason) of Berea, Iris Isaacs of Paris; his great grandchildren, Spencer Isaacs of Paris, Haven and Zachary McPeek of Berea.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Hasting, and a brother, Leon Isaacs.

A graveside service for Mr. Isaacs will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2013, in the Berea Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Slemp officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013, at the Davis & Powell Funeral Home.
