RICHMOND — Jerry Royalty, 58, of Richmond, husband of Betty Collins Royalty, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013, at his home.

He was born in Mercer County on January 23, 1955, to James Everett and Mary Ann Steele Royalty.

He retired from General Electric and was a sports car enthusiast. He loved the ocean and spending time sailing.

He was a devout husband, loving father and grandfather and friend to many. He was also a deacon at the Big Hill Christian Church.

In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by: a son, Kelly Nathan Royalty and fiancé Amber Coffey of Richmond; his mother, Mary Ann Steele Royalty; two sisters, Patricia Ann Haertel, and Susan G. Maybrier and husband Roger, all of Versailles; his grandchildren, Haley Brooke and Lily Grace Royalty; and his uncle, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father and a son, Ryan Royalty.

The funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2013, at the Big Hill Christian Church, Goggins Lane, Richmond, with Bro. Jim Riggs, Bro. Bob Coldiron and Bro. Bud Cornelison officiating. Burial will follow in the Athens Cemetery of Fayette County.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Pallbearers will be his nephews: Chase Haertel, Roger Maybrier Jr., Dewayne Napier, Kevin Collins, Michael Collins, Aaron Collins and Shane Collins.

Honorary pallbearers will be John “Sub” McBeth, Joe Weber and Roger Maybrier.
