Sudie ‘Susie’ Lou Sizemore, 58

RICHMOND — Born on December 5, 1954, in Corbin, Whitley County, Ky., Sudie “Susie” Lou Sizemore of Richmond, Ky., left this world behind on September 19, 2013.

She’s made her final journey and has now joined her beloved parents, Bro. Roscoe & Sis. Lizzie Wilder Sizemore in her eternal home of peace & rest.

Susie was a mother, grandmother, gospel singer, a published poet and active in her card ministry, but most of all she was a blood-bought, born-again Christian.

She was brought up in the Pentecostal Holiness faith – accepting Jesus as her personal Savior & filled with the Holy Ghost at the early age of 12. After years away from church, she rededicated her life to Christ in August 1994.

She started attending the Richmond House of Prayer in June 2001, became a member in October 2001 and remained a member at the time her passing. She most recently attended First Baptist Church and was an active participant in Sunday school. 

Susie is survived by: a daughter, Angie Martin of Richmond, Ky.; a son, Chris Martin and “daughter-in-law” Aisha “Itchy” Chenault, both of Richmond, Ky.; four grandchildren, Dominic Parks, Aryanna Martin, Aaron Martin and Logan Martin, all of Richmond, Ky.; a sister, Jeweleen Hormann of West Plains, Mo.; a brother, Melvin (Debby) Smith of Berea, Ky.; a sister in law, Judy Smith of Berea, Ky.; her namesake, Tina Sue Smith of Berea, Ky.; three “Ya-Ya sisters,  Judy Singleton of Winchester, Ky., Mary Brown of Richmond, Ky., and Joan Ramsey of Denver, Colo.; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, church family & friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Roscoe & Lizzie Sizemore; six brothers, Belve, Wilce, Walter, Junior and Raymond Sizemore & Dillard Smith; and four sisters, Beulah Sizemore, Ethel Ridner, Clara Frey & Pattie Sue Fee.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, September 22, 2013, at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Francis Street. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013,  at Davis & Powell Funeral Home in Berea, Ky. Burial will be Monday, September 23, in Madison Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dominic Parks, John Smith, Wayne Smith, Tony Fee, Louis Will and Jonathan Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Bledsoe, Danny Fee, Tony Smith, Greg Mullins, Fred Horn, Olin Seabolt, Denny Trease, Jimmy Hayes, Harold Potter, MEPCO Home Health Care aides, nurses, & staff; Madison Towers Apts, neighbors & staff; Richmond House of Prayer Church family, First Baptist Church (Francis & Collins) congregation; & Richmond Green Apts. friends & staff.
