RICHMOND — Ilene Lakes, 92, of Dreyfus, passed away Friday evening, September 6, 2013, at the home of her daughter.

She was born September 10, 1920, in Madison County, to the late Burnam and Nora Lainhart Rose.

Ilene was the widow of William “Sam” Lakes, a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by: one son, William Jan Lakes; three daughters, Sharon Vanhook (Ronnie), Judy Smith (Marshall), and Shirley Smith (Harold); one brother, Herbert Rose (Geneva); one sister, Estelle Keene; two grandchildren, beloved grandson Ronnie Vanhook II and Sheila Holbrook (Taylor); two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thank you to her caregiver and friend, Caroline Pearson.

Ilene was preceded in death by: three sisters, Ursle Lakes, Tressie Estes, Marie Rose and Flossie; three brothers, Dennis, Lester and Rexford Rose.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, Main Street, Richmond, with Bro. Danny Robinson and Chaplain Brad King officiating. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6  to 9 p.m. Monday at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Rose, Bobby Rose, Doug Rose, Mark Keene, Mark Gray and Ronnie Gray.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steve and Mary Wade, Gordon Hisle, Barney Alexander and Earl Durham.
