Lowell D. Hobbs, 63

Connersville, Ind.

Connersville, Ind. — Lowell Dannie Hobbs, 63, went home to be with his wife on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Sycamore Springs Rehabilitation Centre in Liberty, Indiana, following a courageous battle with cancer for the previous five years.

One of three children, he was born June 30, 1950, in Foxtown, Kentucky, the son of John F. Hobbs and Julia M. Moore Hobbs (Towler). He came to Connersville, Indiana, for residence as a child.

On October 2, 1976, he was married to Roberta Ratz of Connersville; she passed from this life November 23, 2006.

Initially, he had been an over-the-road truck driver until becoming a welder for Aryon Welding of Richmond, Indiana, for more than seven years; subsequently, he returned to truck driving for various construction companies. In his leisure, he enjoyed outdoor activities, loved to fish and hunt and searching for arrowheads.

Survivors include: two sons, John L. Hobbs and his wife Rebekah, and James P. Hobbs and his wife April: two grandchildren, Hayle Marie and James Robert Hobbs; a brother, Carl Marion Towler and his wife Cheryl; his stepfather, Paul Towler and his wife Diane; and a nephew, Devon Towler, all of Connersville. He also was blessed with numerous cousins and extended family.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by: a grandson, John Frank Paddock Hobbs, his parents and an infant brother, Paul Towler Jr.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home in Connersville, where services will be conducted at 6 p.m. the same evening with Rev. Mike Adams officiating; they may also visit anytime online at Burial will be in the Steele Family Cemetery of Foxtown, Kentucky, in Jackson County.
