Michael G. Williams, 63

BEREA — Michael G. Williams, 63, of Berea, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, as a result of an accident.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Diane Holcomb Williams.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Christine Wagner Williams, and an infant child, Michael D. Williams.

He was a retired Blue Grass Army Depot employee. Michael also had been a fireman for the city of Berea many years ago and was a business man.

Michael had attended EKU and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a U.S. Army veteran who was very proud to have served his country in the Vietnam War. Michael was member of the Berea Church of God.

Michael is survived by: his wife, Rita Diane Holcomb Williams of Berea; his sons, Mark A. Williams, Shawn D. (Chase E) Williams and Philip (Stacey) Williams; his brother, Gary (Rhonda) Williams; his sisters, Norma (Gordon) Sowers and Wanda Carpenter; one niece and several nephews; his grandchildren, Tyler, Chandler, Taylor, Felicity and Abigale Williams; and his two dogs, Tara Sue and Abby Jo.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Berea Church of God with the Rev. Stephen Hobbs officiating. Burial will be in the Berea Cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers will be Larry Smith, Mike Sipple, Rick Smith, Larry Combs, Mark Williams and Chris Sowers. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Sowers, Pat Sowers, Garrick Williams, Laine Williams, Tyler Williams and Chandler Williams.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Berea Church of God.

Lakes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
