Frances Jane Miller Vaughn, 95,

KIRKSVILLE —

Frances Jane Miller Vaughn, 95, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 peacefully at her home of natural causes.  

Frances was born September 23, 1918, in Madison County, the youngest of 12

children, to the late John and Susie Jenkins Miller.  She attended Kirksville

School and worked at Westinghouse for 29 years and retired in 1980.  Frances

was a member of the Harris Memorial Baptist Church where she taught Sunday

School for several years.

On May 24, 1934, Frances married Lester “Leck” Vaughn.  They were married 66

years before Leck preceded her in death in 2001.  She loved her family and

enjoyed hosting large family gatherings where she often invited anyone who

didn’t have a place to spend the holiday seasons.  Frances enjoyed cooking and

working in her flower garden, traveling with family but found time every day

to read her Bible and write in her journal.  

Frances was also preceded in death by 11 siblings:  Arthur Miller, Mary Miller

Lamb, Ernest Miller, Grace Miller Rogers, John Miller Jr., Bessie Miller,

Dulcie Miller Tackett, Burnam Franklin Miller, Dolly Miller Masters, Julia Ann

Miller May, and Nellie Miller.  

Survivors include two daughters:  Nelvina (Harold) Agee and Mary Ann (Harold)

Coffey, all of Richmond; seven grandchildren: Bruce (Debbie) Agee, Steve

(Anne) Agee, Alan (Mae) Agee, Sherry (Chris) Stocker Thiele, Ray (Darlene)

Stocker, Beth (Phil) Stocker Johnson, and Shelly Stocker; 11 great

grandchildren:  Stephanie (Robbie) Agee Johnson, Tara (Gary) Agee Miracle,

Ashley (Kent) Sparks Smith, Jared Sparks, Joshua Agee, Chip Sweet, Dustin

(Ashley) Sweet, Rachel (Eric) Stocker Leininger, Luke (Daine) Stocker, Hunter

Stocker, and Bethany Johnson; several great great-grandchildren, great-great

great grandchildren, step-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.  

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 24, 2014 at

the Combs, Parsons, & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. James Hardin and Rev.

Paul Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at the Paint Lick Cemetery.  

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Bruce Agee, Steve Agee, Alan Agee, Ray Stocker, Chris

Thiele, Phil Johnson, Dustin Sweet, Chip Sweet and Hunter Stocker.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Hospice Care Plus, 208 Kidd

    China Ellen Jones, of Irvine, passed away July 7, 2014.
    She was proceeded in death by her mother, Corda Jean Jones. Survivors include: son, Sean Anthony Dykes; daughter, Destiny Faith Dykes; a special niece, Cassie Richardson; and a special nephew, Johnathan Stamper, all of Richmond.
    A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

    Ralph Gentry Elkin, 88, of Carolina Shores, N.C., died Friday, May 23, 2014, in Grand Strand Regional Medical Center of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
    Mr. Elkin was born November 25, 1925, in Berea, Ky., a son of the late T.J. and Dora Gentry Elkin. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Gayle S. Elkin; a brother, James Elkin; and sister, Elizabeth Seals.
