RICHMOND — Leland “Bud” Bennett Jr., 85, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday evening, May 14, 2013, in the Berea Health Care Center.

He was born December 30, 1927, at Newby, to Leland and Dolly Green Bennett, both of whom preceded him in death. Bud also was preceded in death by his wife, Flossie Frye Bennett, and two great-grandchildren.

Bud was a life-long farmer who enjoyed working in his yard and his Victory Garden.

He was a member of the Richmond Predestinarian Baptist Church and enjoyed attending his church. As much as anything, he enjoyed raising his grandchildren.

He is survived by: two sons, Leon Bennett (Hattie) of Berea and Marvin Ray Bennett (Lynn) of Louisville; two daughters, Margaret Letta Jones (Delmon) of Columbus, Ohio, and Linda Sue Hunt (Gary) of Lexington; eight grandchildren; six-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services for Mr. Bennett will be conducted noon Monday, May 20, 2013, at the Richmond Predestinarian Baptist Church. The Rev. Raymond Walker will officiate the service and burial will follow at Newby Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Marvin Ray Bennett Jr., Christopher Bennett, Russell Matthew, Deacon York Stunson, Larry Jennings, Percy Kurt, Ernest Williams and James Smith.
