Robert Faris “Mop” Maupin Jr., 87, of Kingston, the widower of Inez Benge Maupin, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the Compassionate Care Center.
Mr. Maupin was born March 9, 1926, in Madison County to the late Robert Faris and Mae Stowe Maupin. He was a graduate of Kingston High School, a self employed farmer and had previously served as a county committee member of the former ASCS board. He was a member and former church treasurer of the Whites Memorial Presbyterian Church and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of WWII.
He is survived by: his three sons, Robert Faris Maupin III (Marsha), John F. Maupin (Kathy), and Harold S. Maupin (Susan); nine grandchildren, Meghann Skeese (Anthony), Jessica Lakes (Wesley), Kimberly Maupin, Jennifer Maupin, Emily Maupin, Ben Maupin, Molly Maupin, Lucas Maupin and Cody Maupin; six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by: one son, William Clay Maupin; one brother, Jessie Stowe Maupin; and one sister, Dorothy Gaffney.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, West Main Street, with Todd Moberly officiating. Burial will follow in Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Monty Pennington, George Pennington, Harold Rome Ray, Faris Maupin, John Maupin, Harold Maupin and Ben Maupin.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Jerry Harrison, Glyndon Alexander, Jimmy Lamb, Lucas Maupin, Cody Maupin, Kendall Maupin, John Hayden Maupin and Logan Lakes.
