James R. ‘Jimmy’ Hall, 72

RICHMOND — James R. “Jimmy” Hall, 72, of Richmond, husband of Mary E. Rison Hall, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.

Mr. Hall was born in Madison County on July 31, 1941, to the late Robert and Margaret Johns Hall.

He was of the Christian faith and had retired from Home Lumber Company in Richmond.  He also served in the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed wood working, had great mechanical skills and was a dog lover, as well. He was known by many in Madison County as their Little League Baseball coach. 

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hall is also survived by: his son, Chad Hall and wife Stacey of Richmond; his brother, Marvin Hall and wife Marianne of Phoenix, Arizona; his sister, Joyce Campbell and husband Earl of Richmond; his grandson, Austin Hall; and two nieces, Margaret Hurt and husband John, and Suzanne Campbell.

His family by marriage includes: two daughters, Sandra Dobson and husband Dean of Irvine, and Vickie White and husband Jeff of Lexington; six grandchildren, Joey Dobson and wife Andrea, Deborah Agee, Brianna Swain and husband Ryon, Alicia Baker and husband Josh, Andrea White and Brinley White; and two great-grandchildren:, Devon Marie Bryant and Sara Griffin.

The funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2013, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Dallas Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the College Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Combs, Parsons & Collins.

Pallbearers will be: John Hurt, Ryon Swain, Josh Baker, Joey Dobson, John Bryant and Jeff White. Honorary pallbearers will be: Steve Cosby, Earl Campbell, Aubrey Spivey, Russell Stewart, Mayor Jimmy Barnes, Edwin Luxon Sr. and Barrie Baker.

    Mrs. Ethel Abrams Lakes, 84, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the Compassionate Care Center.
    Mrs. Lakes was born June 13, 1930, in Rockcastle County to James and Delia Johnson Abrams.
    She was retired from Brown & Williams Tobacco Company in Lexington. She was a faithful listener of the WLJC Gospel Broadcast and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

    Mrs. Hardy was born November 12, 1912, in Valley View, Kentucky. She was a homemaker, a retired seamstress and was of the Baptist faith.

    Gary Lee Winburn, 69, of Richmond, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
    A native of Richmond, Kentucky, he was the son of Marcus and Johnetta Arch Winburn, both of whom preceded him in death. Gary had been an employee of the former Begley Drug Company and was a retired employee of Car Quest Auto Parts Store. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richmond.
