RICHMOND — A bright light went out in the lives of many on the morning of Oct. 16, 2012 when Ronald Allen Roberts, 71, was called to heaven. He was the son of the late Ben and Susie Roberts. Born on March 6, 1941 in Richmond, he moved to Virginia after proudly serving in the US Air Force for eight years.

He is survived by his wife Shirley M. Roberts, daughter Sherry Dawn Graves, son Robert Scott Graves and wife Doris, granddaughters Kelly Lynn Graves and Sherri Marie Graves and husband Dustin, all of Charlottesville, Va.; sister Patricia Roberts Keene, husband Mark, and son Robbie of Berea; niece Sun Ann Smith, husband Jimmy, and son Rodney Wheeler of Richmond, sister-in-law Betty Roberts and daughter Kimberley Antonini and son Kenneth Roberts of Parksley, Va.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by two sisters, Sandra Faye Roberts and Norma Jean Riddell of Richmond and one brother, Rev. Donald Kenneth Roberts of Parksley, Va.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at the Hill and Wood Chapel, Charlottesville, Va., with Pastor Terry Jewell officiating. Burial will follow at Monticello Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Region Ten Adult Developmental Residential Services, 200 Michie Drive, Charlottesville, Va., 22901. Attn. Joann Osbourne. Please put “In Memory of Ronald Roberts” in the tag line of the check.

That bright light now shines in heaven and a gentle soul walks the streets of gold. You will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear one.
