Mary Frances Hartman, 84

RICHMOND — Mary Frances Hartman, 84, widow of Lawrence Hartman, passed away Wednesday evening in Kenwood Health and Rehab nursing facility.

Mary was born August 20, 1928, in Madison County to the late Thomas and Hazel Ray.

Mary was a very independent woman who enjoyed staying active and attended Church on the Rock when she was able. She was an avid quilter and loved to shop. Mary also had a passion for animals, especially her dog and two cats.

She is survived by: her two sons, Robert E. Ray (Linda) of Florence and William Hartman (Michelle) of Berea; one brother, Donald Ray; and three sisters, Geneva Bowling (Billy), Betty Karnes (Cleve) and Rosie Lear (Bill); eight grandchildren, Robert B. Ray (Deborah), Ashley Ray Clore (Jerry), Anthony Ray (Katherine Griffin), Branden Hartman, Billy “Junior” Hartman, Austin Hartman, Alec Hartman and Hannah Hartman; one great-grandchild: Samuel Ray; as well as helpful family and caretakers Nikki, Gayle, and Betty.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Ray.

Funeral services will be conducted 1p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Manse Cemetery of Paint Lick. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be her close friends and family.
