BEREA — Chester Rose, 88, of Lambert Road in Berea, passed away at his home on Friday December 6, 2013.

Chester was born in Estill County to the late James D. and Stella Woosley Rose.

He was a self-employed farmer and truck driver, a member of the Conway Baptist Church and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Vivan Edwards Rose; one son, Granville Rose; three brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by: his children, Cynthia (Tim) VanWinkle, Millard Rose and Lucy (Wayne) Ambrose, and stepchildren, Vivian L. (Bill) Grant and Alice (Homer) Conner. He also has: two brothers, William L. (Norma) Rose, Elva (Becky) Rose; two sisters, Lillie Todd, Freda (Charles) Ramsey; 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren who survive him.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Don Stayton and Rev. Butch Pennington officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery at Panola.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Shane Conner, Lee Carpenter, David Gabbard, Josh VanWinkle, Donald Grant and Jeff Grant. Honorary bearers will be Mikie Miller, Wayne Ambrose, Tim VanWinkle, Christopher Delph and Thomas Carpenter.
