John Henry Watkins, 78

John Henry "Doodle-Bug" Watkins, 78, of Winburn Drive, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2009, in Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Vernie Embree Watkins.

Mr. Watkins was born May 1, 1931, in Clark County, Ky., to Stanley and Fannie Stokley Watkins, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Whitehall Holiness Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Vernie Watkins; four daughters, Linda DeBord of London, Ky., Wanda Duncanson (David) of Winterhaven, Fla., and Ruby D. Azbill (Tom) and Mildred Grimes (Bill), both of Richmond; four grandchildren, Bobby Joe Turner (Joy), John Everett Sebastian (LeAnn), Heather Grimes and Alex Grimes; one great-grandchild, Raylee Faith Sebastian; one brother, Joseph Watkins (Joann) of Richmond; two sisters, Dorothy Renfro and Opal Arrowood, both of Richmond; one brother-in-law, Paul Embree (Teresa); and one sister-in-law, Shirley Easley (Jack).

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Northern and Bro. Bruce Alcorn officiating. Burial will follow in Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Gary Northern, Dale Witt, Marvin Evans, Ernie Northern, Doug Evans and Jimmy Vandenburg. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Evans, Thomas Alexander, Doug Alexander, Dwight Embree, Charles Townsend and Phillip Townsend.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2009, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell.

    Mrs. Lakes was born June 13, 1930, in Rockcastle County to James and Delia Johnson Abrams.
    She was retired from Brown & Williams Tobacco Company in Lexington. She was a faithful listener of the WLJC Gospel Broadcast and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

    Gary Lee Winburn, 69, of Richmond, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
    A native of Richmond, Kentucky, he was the son of Marcus and Johnetta Arch Winburn, both of whom preceded him in death. Gary had been an employee of the former Begley Drug Company and was a retired employee of Car Quest Auto Parts Store. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richmond.
