Preston Leo Alexander, 79,

Preston Leo Alexander, 79, of Owsley Fork, husband of Madaline (Isaacs) Alexander, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 8, 2009, in his home.

Preston was born June 16, 1930, in Madison County to Leonard and Lilly (Rader) Alexander, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a faithful member of the Blue Lick Holiness Church, in Berea, Ky. He enjoyed farming and he was a retired, 26-year employee of Eastern Kentucky University.

In addition to his loving wife of 56 years, Madaline, Preston is survived by: nine children, Vester Alexander, Randy (Linda) Alexander, Daphne Alexander, Bessie Alexander, Charnell (Alan) Shewmake, Daniel (Sandy) Alexander, Artie Jacob (Kim) Alexander, Lonetta (Chris) Webb, all of Berea, and Belinda Alexander of Richmond; 33 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Preston also is survived by: one brother, Roy G. (Lillian) Alexander of Berea; three sisters, Della (Fred) Alexander of Sand Gap, Ky., Elizabeth (Barney) Adams of Waco and Madeline (Bobby) Young of Berea; one brother-in-law, Butch Martin of Lebanon, Ohio; and a host of family and friends.

Services will be conducted at noon Sunday, October 11, 2009, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Bro. Jay Alexander, Bro. Junior Lamb and Bro. Bruce Alcorn officiating. Burial will follow in Preston Alexander Cemetery on Alexander Road. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Saturday at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home.
