Euva Lee Carden McGinnis passed away peacefully Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Richmond.
She was born September 28, 1920, to the late James and Emma Carden of Parrot, Virginia. She was one of seven siblings, all now deceased.
Euva Lee was the wife of the late Eugene McGinnis. She was a devoted daughter, wife and mother.
Euva Lee graduated from the Williamson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1941. Employed as a public health nurse in her professional life, she was dedicated to the care, health and well-being of others, especially her children. More importantly, she stressed love and the need for closeness in her family. She always emphasized the need for a good education and sacrificed much to ensure that all of her children received that education. After her retirement, she enjoyed cooking, tending to her flowers and following her Kentucky Wildcats.
She was a committed Christian, read her Bible daily and was a long-time member of the Williamson Church of Christ and later the Westside Christian Church in Richmond.
She is survived by: her three daughters, Sandra Cerny and husband Wayne, Sharon Cooksey and husband Curtis, and Barbara McGinnis, all of Richmond; and her son, Randy McGinnis and wife Joan of Oakton, Va. She also is survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Elder Goble officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
