Alma Jean Elswick Johns, 79

RICHMOND — Alma Jean Elswick Johns, 79, widow of George Kincaid Johns Jr., passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.

She was born on February 28, 1933, in Madison County to the late Northa and Iva Greer Elswick. She was retired from Phillips Lighting and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

Alma is survived by: three daughters, Mae Philbeck, Joann Bruner and Kay Johns Hacker, all of Richmond, Ky.; four grandchildren, Donnie Philbeck (Kelly) of Richmond, Ky., James E. “Chip” Bruner II (Stacy) of Bedford, Ky., Brian Christopher Bruner (Michelle) of Lawrenceburg, Ky., and Danielle Nicole Hacker of Lexington, Ky.; one great-grandson, Eric Philbeck of Long Beach, California; four brothers, Russell Elswick, Curtis “Bud” Elswick, Donnie Elswick and Kenneth Elswick; six sisters, Wilma Davis, Jane Stephens, Edith Perkins, Linda Finley, Margaret Ann Brown and Connie Jones; two special sons, Dennis B. Hacker and James E. Bruner.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Northa and Iva Greer Elswick; her husband, George Kincaid Johns Jr.; and two brothers, Thomas Hill Elswick and Marion “Dee” Elswick.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Roger Perkins, Shannon Perkins, Steve Elswick, Brad Elswick, Bobby Elswick and Justin Lynch.

Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Kincaid Johns, Mark Moberly, Thurman Parsons, Mike Moody and Robert Walden.

    Mrs. Lakes was born June 13, 1930, in Rockcastle County to James and Delia Johnson Abrams.
    She was retired from Brown & Williams Tobacco Company in Lexington. She was a faithful listener of the WLJC Gospel Broadcast and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

    Mrs. Hardy was born November 12, 1912, in Valley View, Kentucky. She was a homemaker, a retired seamstress and was of the Baptist faith.

    Gary Lee Winburn, 69, of Richmond, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
    A native of Richmond, Kentucky, he was the son of Marcus and Johnetta Arch Winburn, both of whom preceded him in death. Gary had been an employee of the former Begley Drug Company and was a retired employee of Car Quest Auto Parts Store. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richmond.
