Clarence Rigney, 86, of Liberty, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2012, in the V.A Medical Center. He was born August 30, 1926, in Argyle, Ky., to the late Albert and Florence Foster Rigney.

Clarence was a former employee of Goodyear and a former Kentucky State Trooper. He was a member of Watson’s Chapel Christian Church and a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his spouse, Bernice Estes Rigney, and one sister, Lucy Dupin.

Survivors include: One daughter, Chandra (Mike) Leaverton of Richmond; one son, James Monroe (Jewell) Rigney of Richmond; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Cleo Rigney of Elizabethtown; and one sister, Lola McAninch of Argyle.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2012, at the Bartle Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sherman Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Watson’s Chapel Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be 11 a.m. Saturday with Masonic Rites at noon at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jerod, Jeremy and Roger Rigney, Jay Price, Kris Upchurch and Jason Spencer.
