James ‛Hamp’ Hampton, 61

RICHMOND — James “Hamp” Hampton, 61, of Richmond, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013.

James was born April 18, 1952, in Madison County, the son of May “Buck” and Katherine Conner Hampton.

He retired from Okonite Cable Co. after 30 years of service. James graduated from Madison Central High School in the class of 1970. He loved his dogs and enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by: his mother, Katherine Conner Hampton, Richmond; one daughter, Monica Hampton, Lexington; two brothers, Billy Hampton, Richmond, and Richard Hampton, Owenton; one sister, Lucy Murphy, Richmond; three grandchildren, Zack Huff, Allie Huff, Austin Jackson; and granddogger, Cora Hampton.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Butch Pennington officiating.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Combs, Parsons & Collins.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Smith, Russell Jones, Charlie Prather, Lee Jones, Timothy Cruse, Dustin Cruse, Billy Hampton and Richard Hampton.
