Donald Glenmore Smith, 78

Greens Crossing

Greens Crossing — Donald Glenmore Smith, 78, of Greens Crossing, came to eternal peace and rest, Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center, where he was surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Don was married to his devoted wife, Rose Ella Conner Smith, for 57 years.

He was born May 30, 1935, in Kirksville, the son of Roy and Zelma Rice Smith, both of whom preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by: his oldest son, Morris “Duck” Smith; and one brother, William Park Smith.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: three sons, Michael Vincent Smith, Charles “Randy” Smith and Roy “Peppy” Smith; one daughter, Loretta Smith Henderson; two daughters-in-law, Teresa Smith and Kay Smith; one son-in-law, Scott “Stick” Henderson; grandchildren, Mike and Crystal, Donnie Ray, Roy Kyle, Larry and Brittany, Ashley and Jeremy, Tommy and Katie, Roy and Leona, Jamie Delaine, Katie and Justin, Dustin Donald, Anastasia Rose and Brittney Camile; great-grandchildren, Michael, Brandon, Devon, Natalie, Kayleigh, Ryder, Andrew, Mason, Conner and Jayden; one brother, Larry Smith; three sisters, Jackie Smith, Linda Newton and Mary Carter; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

The family asks that you come as you are, no need to dress up. Don was a down-to-earth man who enjoyed joking with company. He loved watching UK basketball and gameshows. Most of all, Don loved his family. He enjoyed giving the kids rides around the yard on his electric wheelchair.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at the Combs Parsons and Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Jonathon Tussey, pastor of the Peytontown Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be his sons: Michael, Randy and Peppy.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Roy K. Smith, Larry Smith, Roy C. Smith, Dustin Smith, Jeremy Bovier, Justin Brock and Brad Morgan.
