RICHMOND — James Donald Willis, 76, of Richmond passed away March 6, 2014, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington after a long illness.
James was born August 17, 1937, in Estill County to the late Clarence (Shad) and Bendy White Willis. He was a United States Navy veteran and an avid fisherman.
He is survived by: six children, James E. (Janet) Willis, Stephen R. (Sandy) Willis, Jonathon B. (Mary) Willis Penny R. Griggs, all of Berea, Dennis K. (Bobbie) Willis, Richmond, and Patty Willis Brandenburg, Waco; two brothers, Fred Willis and Ray Willis, both of Richmond; 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his father, Clarence (Shad) Willis; mother, Bendy White Willis; and one brother, William Albert Willis.
Services for Mr. Willis will be conducted noon Monday, March 10, 2014, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Pastor David Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be James (Robby) Willis, Sarah Willis, Tiffany Willis, Jeremiah Willis, Zachariah Willis and John Willis.
Honorary pallbearers are Josh Brandenburg, Casey Willis, Austin Willis, Marcus Willis, Jacob Willis, Jared Willis and Samuel Griggs.
