Eldean Jones Burgin, 91

RICHMOND — Eldean Jones Burgin, 91, passed away May 9, 2013, at Telford Terrace in Richmond.

She was the widow of Calvin Burgin, who preceded her in death in 2008. Eldean was born on September 22, 1921, and was the daughter of Cecil Bartleson Jones and Jennie Perkins Jones, both of whom preceded her in death.

She had been a member of Bethel Christian Church and was currently a member at First Christian Church of Richmond.

She attended Newby School and was a member of the first graduating class of Madison Central High School in 1940.

Eldean attended EKU and was a graduate of the Eastern School of Hair Design. She worked as a hairdresser for 37 years and was the owner of Eldean’s Beauty Box in Richmond.

She enjoyed traveling and entertaining friends and family. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Ladies Bridge Club, as well as being a charter member of the Richmond Area Arts Council.

Survivors include: one brother, Glen Jones of Mason, Ohio; two nieces, Vickie Cruse Borgmeier of Richmond and Glenna Rosenblum, of Cincinnati; and five nephews, David Cruse and Allen Newby, both of Lexington, Stephen Zeh and Fredrick Zeh Jr., both of Louisville, and Michael Newby, of Paris, Kentucky.

Funeral services for Eldean Jones will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Dr. Glenn Birkett officiating.

Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church, PO Box 216, Richmond, KY 40476.
