Ida 'Lucille' Creech, 95

Ida “Lucille” Creech, 95, died Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Tanbark Nursing Center in Lexington, KY. The family is most grateful for their compassionate care at Tanbark. 

She is survived by a sister, Bernice Creech Coleman, Lexington, and one niece, Betty Creech Gurany, Leesburg, FL; three nephews, Robert Morris Creech, Jr., Orlando, FL, John Nelson Creech, Indian Harbour Beach, FL, and William Buford Creech, Austin, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie Blunschi Creech and John W. Creech; and brother, Robert Morris Creech Sr.

She was born in Richmond and was a graduate of Model High School and Eastern Kentucky University.

During WWII, she was commissioned a 1st lieutenant in US Public Health Services and served at U.S. Marine Hospitals in Cleveland, OH, and Galveston, TX.  After WWII, she returned to Kentucky and received her Master’s Degree in Dietetics at the University of Kentucky. Then she was employed by the Kentucky Department of Human Resources. She was in charge of food service for the six Kentucky Tuberculosis Hospitals for many years. She retired in 1981. She was a long-time member of Woodland Christian Church, UK Alumni Association and retired member of American Dietetics Association. 

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Milward-Southland, conducted by Rev. Dalene Vasbinder. Burial will follow at the Richmond Cemetery.
