Nancy Lee Curra, 92

RICHMOND — Nancy Lee Curra, 92, passed away early Saturday, August 31, 2013, at her home.

Nancy was born May 5, 1921, in Rockford, Illinois, the only child of Harold and Mildred Baumeister, who preceded her in death.

Her husband, Louis Curra, a retired lieutenant commander in the Navy, also preceded her in death, as did her son, David Louis Curra.

Nancy attended Flora Stone Mather College at Case Western Reserve University and worked at many jobs, including those of a chemist, an interior decorator and employee in the library at Eastern Kentucky University for many years.

Nancy was a member of a homemakers club in Richmond and had been an active volunteer at Richmond Health and Rehabilitation-Kenwood, where she was once selected as volunteer of the year.

She enjoyed reading, traveling, playing cards, entertaining and caring for her pets. She maintained an active lifestyle and was an integral part of family activities.

She had a delightful sense of humor, and she was interested in many things. Nancy could always be relied upon to keep up her end of any conversation.

Although Nancy enjoyed many things, what brought her the greatest joys was being a mother, a grandmother and a great-grandmother. She was dedicated to her family, loving them unconditionally and she was, in turn, loved by them.

She was generous with her time and her affection, and those who were fortunate enough to know and be with her were forever changed by the experience. Nancy was just incredibly fun to be around, and the world was a better place because she was in it. Our grief at her passing is inestimable, and our memories of her will be forever with us.

Nancy is survived by her son, John Curra, and her daughter, Susan King. She also is survived by  daughter-in-law Carolyn Curra, son-in-law Charlie King, granddaughters Christy Liane Curra and Jennifer Diane Curra, and great-granddaughter Alexa Diane Curra.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 5, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, from 5 to 80 p.m. She will be buried in Sandusky, Ohio, next to her husband, mother, and father.

Condolences may be expressed at www.orpfh.com
