Robert Edward Schirmer, 92, of Waco, formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013, in the Compassionate Care Center of Richmond.
Mr. Schirmer was born on October 24, 1920, to the late George and Emma Wiefenbach Schirmer.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Irvine View Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He is survived by his family: J.W. and Carolyn Witt, James and J. Dillon, J.W. and Mitzi Witt II, Makayla Dillon, Kara Dillon, Kaleb Mathew Dillon, Denton Witt, Dylan Witt, Brianna Northern, Reva Eger, Carol Haussler and Richard Koebbe (Mary).
In addition to his parents, Mr. Schirmer is preceded in death by his dear friend and caregiver, Effie Tone.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Charley Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County with full military honors.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be J.W. Witt II, James Dillon, Luke Witt, Dale Witt, Robert Riley, Danny Rutherford and Randall Daugherty.
Honorary pallbearers will be J. Dillon, Makayla Dillon, Kara Dillon, Kaleb Dillon, Denton Witt, Dylan Witt, Briana Northern, Sibyl Cain and Joey Sparks.
He is loved and will be missed by many dear family members and friends in Richmond and Waco.
