Homer Ray Curry, 93

MADISON COUNTY — Homer Ray Curry, age 93, passed from this life August 15, 2013.

He was a native of Madison County, a son of the late Wesley and Samyra Curry.

Homer is survived by: his wife of 33 years, Margaret Harvey Curry; his daughter, Judy Curry Perkins; grandson Kevin (Margaret) Perkins; granddaughter Lisa Masters Long; and two great-granddaughters, Megan Perkins and Kerrigan Long.

He also is survived by: his stepchildren, Linda Stone Rhodus, Cynthia (Calvin) Reece, Marvie (Jenny) Stone Jr. and Willie (Sandy) Stone; eight step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews, four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law also survive.

Homer was preceded in death by: his daughter, Denise Curry Masters; and the mother of his children, Louise McCreary Curry. Also preceding him in death were: his siblings, Bailey Curry, Nelson Curry and Mary Lee Jones.

He was a veteran of World War II, a member of Bethel Christian Church and a long time attendee of Antioch Christian Church. He was a former employee of Robinson Turley and Cornelison Farm Service, and he worked at Tractor Supply until the age of 89.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2013, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home officiated by John Davis. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers include: Wesley Lee Jones, Garnett Isbell, Johnny Middleton Randall Webb, Mason Estes and Donald Wayne Short. Honorary pallbearers include: Armon Sanders, Jerome Curry, Henry Smith, Carroll Perkins, Wayne Perkins, James Masterson, Curt Bogie and Fran Spalding.
