Dr. David Duane Gale, 69, Richmond, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, following a brief illness.
He was born October 2, 1943, at Niobrara, Nebraska, to William Duane and Mary Alice Amelia (Ward) Gale, both of whom preceded him in death.
Dr. Gale was the administrative dean of the College of Health Sciences at Eastern Kentucky University.
He was an inductee of the Institute of Medicine and a member of the Allied Health Professionals, which he had served as past president. He was the chairman of the board of directors of NCHPEG, past president of the American Society of Human Genetics and numerous other health occupation boards. Dr. Gale was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richmond.
Survivors include: his wife, Elizabeth Jeannine (Masden) Gale of Richmond; one daughter, Heather Elizabeth Gale (Marion) of Richmond; one son, Michael David Gale (Amanda) of Lexington; two sisters, Alice E. Churchill of California and Aleta F. Blue of Colorado; four grandchildren, Breanna Lee Cox, Landen Chase Cox, Hayden Brantley Farthing, Marion Jefferson Farthing Jr.; and his stepmother, Alice Katherine Gale.
In addition to his parents, Dr. Gale was preceded in death by: one daughter, Laura Jeannine Gale, and two brothers, Robert Austin Gale and Donald James Gale.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home. Funeral service and interment will be private.
