WACO — Mr. Shirley “Pappy” Ramsey, 79, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Baptist Health-Richmond.

He was born in Madison County, Kentucky, on November 23, 1933, the son of the late Millard and Gracie Hoskins Ramsey.

He was a retired mechanic with the city of Richmond and former owner of R&S Welding and Diesel Repair. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed fishing and hunting, loved his grandchildren and his pets. He was truly a “jack of all trades” and especially loved the outdoors. Many will remember him for delivering their firewood.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Delora Jean Miller Ramsey; an infant son, Shirley Jean Ramsey; his son-in-law, Terry Fish; a great-grandson, Caleb Lee Potter; two sisters, Ruth Horn and Anna Bell Kindred.

Survivors include: his son, Mike Ramsey (Judy); two daughters, Ruth Long (Larry) and Deborah Fish (Larry S.), all of Richmond; his brother, Charlie Ramsey (Fredia); nine grandchildren, Jessica Ramsey, Rachel Ramsey, Autumn Rogers (Jesse), Quinten Maynard, Thomas Hollan, Natasha Haddix-Al-Suud, Shirley Haddix, Melissa Potter and Shane Haddix; five great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Ruby Wilcox; and his uncle, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street, with Bro. Greg King and Bro. Rickey Horn officiating. Burial will follow in Madison Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 pm. Friday at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Hollan, Shirley Haddix, Jimmy Middleton, Phillip Miller, Paul Miller and Tommy Miller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Hammon, Jim Carr and Willie Horn.
