MADISON COUNTY — Julian Burton Jr., 59, affectionately known as “Jay,” passed away Friday, September 27, 2013.

He was born on January 4, 1954, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of the late Julian and Edith Smith Burton.

Jay was a former resident of Poosey Ridge in Madison County and was a member of the Salem Christian Church.

He was a special person with a very loving personality. He never saw a stranger and loved his family and friends. He loved animals and enjoyed nature. Jay was a happy man who could find much joy in the simple things of life.

Survivors include: one brother, Ross Burton of Indianapolis, Ind.; three sisters, Darlene Yarnell (Jerry) of Greencastle, Ind., Sandra Jane Glover (Dennis) of Tennessee and Madonna Lynn Thompson, of Lebanon, Ind.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Hennis.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, West Main Street, with Johny Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.
