Berry — Ernest Gene Tackett, age 81, Berry, died Friday, September 20, 2013, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 13, 1932, in Madison County to the late Elba and Dulcie Miller Tackett.

He was a United States Air Force veteran, farmer and heavy equipment owner and operator.

Gene was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Leslie Tackett, Harold Tackett, Glenmore Tackett and Baby James.

He is survived by: his wife, Anita Stoeppel Tackett; two sons, Ricky (Jimmi Lou) Tackett and Jay (Tina) Tackett, both of Harrison County; a daughter, Sherry (Mike) Tackett-Lane, Georgetown; a brother, Carl (Mary) Tackett, Georgetown; two sisters, Angie (Paul) Goss and Helen Antle, both of Lexington; three grandchildren, Josh Tackett, Nicole Lane and Michaela Lane; two great-grandchildren, Elijah Lane Bravo and Mason Dixon Lee Tackett; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Ware Funeral Home in Cynthiana by Rev. Chad Keathley. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pythian Grove Cemetery.
