B. Wayne Lawson, 60


BEREA — B. Wayne Lawson, 60, of Berea passed away Wednesday at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.

Wayne was born in Lexington, Kentucky, to Claude and Etta Holman Lawson. He was a retired electrician for Parsons Electric and U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Berea Baptist Church where he was very active. He served as Deacon, was an excellent cook and did so for many church events and was active with the food closet. He was also involved with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Connie Lawson, their children Sam (Lesley) Lawson and granddaughter Addey Lawson, Bradley (Debbie) Warford, Steve (Tammy) Warford and Raymond (Katie) McLain, their grandchildren Jack Warford, Mitchell Warford, Austin Warford, Cody Warford, Eric Luppens and Claire McLain. He is also survived by his three sisters Terri (Alan) Duncan, Sharon (Eddy) Locker and Penny (Wendell) Davis.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday July 26, 2013, at Berea Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Slemp officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors in Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Lakes Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mitch Holbrook, John Justice, Ken Vasey, Ron Lindley and Ken Moulton. Honorary bearers will Austin Warford, Cody Warford, Mitchell Warford and Jack Warford.

Donations may be made to the Berea Baptist Church Food Closet or Hospice Compassionate Care Center in lieu of flowers.

    Gary Lee Winburn, 69, of Richmond, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
    A native of Richmond, Kentucky, he was the son of Marcus and Johnetta Arch Winburn, both of whom preceded him in death. Gary had been an employee of the former Begley Drug Company and was a retired employee of Car Quest Auto Parts Store. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richmond.

    Joyce Rhodus, 74, passed away Friday morning, April 11, 2014, at her home.
    She was born March 23, 1940, in Garrard County, Kentucky, to the late Jasper and Mary Stella Moore Prewitt.
    Joyce was a graduate of Buckeye High School, class of 1959. She retired from the Madison County Detention Center as a deputy jailer. She loved raising flowers, working puzzles and watching UK basketball.
