Christian Cole Lunsford, 20
Christian Cole Lunsford, 20, son of Larry and Betty Lou Cole Lunsford, died Friday evening, January 25, 2013, at the UK Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born on June 26, 1992, in Lexington. Christian was a special blessing from God. His family is very thankful for the twenty and a half years that they were blessed with his sweet disposition and beautiful, infectious smile.
Some might look at Christian and think about the things he could not do, but what his family remembers is all that he did do. Throughout his life he brought so much joy to his mom, dad, his sister, and all his family. There was nothing Christian enjoyed more than watching Elmo or The Wheel of Fortune.
During his 20 years, he had many special moments: his graduation from school; a trip to New York City and another to California, to see his sister play basketball; and a trip to New Mexico where he loved the horse ride. A very special time for him was when he was ring bearer for his sister’s wedding.
Another special memory is the first time he ate strawberry shortcake. Christian – like most of us – really enjoyed eating and he enjoyed good food.
Another highlight in Christian’s life is when he became an uncle. From the first time he met his nephew, Heath, there was a special bond between them. Christian normally did not like noise, but he didn’t mind the noise Heath made. He even smiled and enjoyed Heath’s noise. A part of Christian’s daily routine with his mom was percussion therapy for his lungs. Christian especially enjoyed having Heath help with the therapy.
Another very special family member to Christian is his Grandpa Wiley. His grandpa fervently prayed for him, held him for hours at a time, and brought his lunch to him more times than could be counted. One of his favorite places to go was to his Grandpa and Nannie’s house.
Christian was a special blessing from God. His family is very thankful for the twenty and a half years we were privileged to have him. We look forward to walking and talking with him in heaven.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Shea Mahoney (Justin); his nephew, John Heath Mahoney, all of Bowling Green, Ky.; maternal grandparents, Wiley and Ina Pearl Cole, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Norman and Carrie Thomas Lunsford; and first cousin, Jerome Cole.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at the First Baptist Church, 425 Eastern Bypass, Richmond, with Rev. Bill Fort, Rev. Noel Dodson and Rev. Bruce Kirby officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday evening at the First Baptist Church.
