RICHMOND — Virgie Lee Brown Stewart, 79, of Richmond, the widow of Raymond Stewart, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2013, in the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond, Kentucky, from injuries sustained in an auto accident.

She was born, December 30, 1933, at Scalf, Kentucky, in Knox County, to George D. and Pearlie Smith Brown, both of whom preceded her in death.

She had worked as a manager for Knight’s Enterprise, when living in Michigan, and was a 45 year member of the Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Stewart was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by: one daughter, Tamara Arthur Stewart, of Richmond; one brother, Ford Brown of Bimble, Kentucky; one sister, Virginia Eves of Richmond; a host of nieces and nephews, including Tina Meyer, Doug and Don Pressley, Anthony Glen Cole and Bryan Johnson; and three great-nieces, Julie Meyer, Mercedes Johnson and Amanda Simpson.

Services for Mrs. Stewart will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2013, at Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Glen Whittemore officiating. Her entombment will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will include Teddy Brown, Doug Pressley, Don Pressley and Anthony Cole.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. Sunday at Oldham, Roberts & Powell.
