Huston Barger, 69, Richmond, passed away Tuesday morning, January 1, 2013, in the Compassionate Care Center of Richmond.

He was born March 9, 1943, in Saul, Ky., to the late Burley and Dorothy Barger.  

Mr. Barger began his career in masonry construction with Harp Masonry Company, and later he owned and operated his own company known as Huston Barger Masonry Company starting in 1978. He worked on several projects in Madison and surrounding counties and was known to his employees as a man devoted to his work and those who worked for him. Huston had several employees whom he thought of as his “special co-workers” and friends. They are Gerald Pingleton, Tommy Minor, Jeff Blevins, Donnie Howard, Billy Warren and Tim Wilkerson.

Another group of special friends whom he enjoyed taking bike trips with or going to car shows with and who mourn his passing are Kenneth Barger, Jimmy Howard, Frank Shoop and Alan Long.

Mr. Barger is survived by a very special family: Mike and Sherry Alexander and their children, Logan and Brooke Alexander of Waco. Huston is also survived by two sons: David (Lizabeth) Lassister, Allen, Texas; Huston (Catherine) Barger Jr., Richmond; one sister, Sherrill Cornett, Fort Meyer, Fla.; one brother, Howard (Willetta) Barger, Maysville, Ky.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Lassiter, Skylar Barger, Huston Barger III (Trey); and many other cousins and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Burley and Dorothy Barger, Huston was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Telford Barger.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions be given to the Hospice Compassionate Care Center, 350 Isaacs Lane, Richmond, KY 40475.

Visitation with family and friends will be at the White Oak Pond Christian Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013. The Celebration of Life Service for Huston Barger will begin at 1 p.m. A private committal service will be conducted at a later time.
