RICHMOND — Sammy J. Long, 72, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington from injuries suffered in a fall.   

Born on April 5, 1940, he was the son of the late Orville “Sam P.” and Eloise Snyder Long. Sammy was preceded in death by his wife Edith Clines Long and one son, Samuel “Sammy” David Long.

He is survived by: daughters Susie Durr (Eric) and Ellen “Tweety” Reeves (Steeley); four grandchildren, Leslie Durr, Kevin and Samantha Alexander and Casey Reeves; a sister, Sydney Long.

Visitation for Sammy will be from 9 until 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Bro. Mike Simpson officiating. Burial will be private.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Hospice of the Bluegrass through the University of Kentucky Hospital for all the help and care Sammy received.
