LEXINGTON — Beulah Paulyne Gibson Conley, 90, widow of Oliver Elmon Conley, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 23, 2014.
The oldest child of the late Clyde Egbert Gibson and Hester May “Hettie” Mitchell Dobson, she was born March 21, 1923, in Van Wert, Iowa. She married Mr. Conley, December 8, 1945, and they moved to Lexington after he retired from his Air Force career.
Mrs. Conley was a retired employee of the Blue Grass Army Depot and a former Arby’s restaurant employee. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and a past commander of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, doing ceramics, traveling, visiting with her grandchildren and friends, and attending activities at the Lexington Senior Center. Mrs. Conley loved coffee and everything chocolate, and she was a Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds baseball and UK basketball fan. She was a mentor and friend to many young women during her work career.
She is survived by: her children, Adrian Craig (Wilma) Conley, Mascoutah, Ill., Fawn Marlyne Conley, Richmond, and Stuart Blaine (Patty) Conley, Mt. Sterling; two sisters Doris Gibson (Eldon) Root, New Virginia, Iowa, and Frances Gibson (Clarence) McClintock, Pawnee City, Neb.
She is also survived by: grandchildren Sky Michelle Tribble, Louisville; William Oliver Conley, St. Louis, Mo.; Amber Lynn Conley, Belleville, Ill.; and Shay Conley Tribble, Lexington; step-grandchildren Crystal (Alan) Shepherd, Mt. Sterling; and Wesley (Jeanette) Graham, Philadelphia, Pa., and step-great-grandchildren, Graham, Hayden and Callen Shepherd, and Connor, Olivia and Sophia Graham.
Also surviving are: a nephew who made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Conley for many years, Stephen F. Gibson; a sister-in-law who she loved dearly, Juanita Conley Gullet; cousins Ed, Don and George Gibson, Shenandoah, Iowa; Harlan Gibson, Maryland Heights, Mo., Ronald Gibson, Burnet, Texas; and Fern Allard Priest, Atlantic, Iowa; and other nieces and nephews.
