RICHMOND — Charles Lee “Chick” Whitaker, 69, of Berea, husband of Donna J. Whitaker, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, in Baptist Health-Lexington.

Chick was born January 22, 1944, in Madison County, Ky.

He was the owner and operator of Chick’s Detail Center. Chick was a member of Berea Baptist Church where he served as an usher. He was a member of the Emmaus Sunday School Class, where he was recognized for receiving perfect attendance. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a Kentucky Colonel.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: one son, Kevin Whitaker (Donna S.); three daughters, Tammy Tate (Terry), Shonda Boyer (Stephen), Kayla Whitaker; stepmother Louann Ratliff; four sisters, Jo Ann Long (J.C.), Jan Marshall, Vicki Rhorer (Walt) and Jodi Whitaker; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one step-grandchild, and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his father, J.B. Whitaker; his mother, Mary “Tootie” Agee; stepfather Jack Agee; and daughter Tracy Whitaker Stivers.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the Berea Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Slemp and Rev. Bill Fort officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Danny Isaacs, Curtis Reppert, Ray Decker, Huston Barger Jr., Ty Jenkins, Jonathan Tate, J.C. Long, Jerry Brandenburg, Willie McFarland and Charles Moody.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Lowell & Katherine Land, James & Debbie Smith, Ken & Terry Vasey, Shelia Isaacs, Gordon H. Rice, Mike Rice, Glen Marcum, Jack Marcum, Larry Linville, Doug Shirley, Tom Plummer, Sue Fain and Lynn Nau.

Donations may be made to the Berea Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
