Homer Davis, 86

RICHMOND — Homer Davis, 86, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.

He was born March 21, 1927, in Fayette County, to Stan and Mary Shanks Davis, both of whom precede him in death.

Mr. Davis was a retired construction worker and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the John F. Marshall Memorial Holiness Church.

He is survived by: his loving wife of 63 years, Willie Mae Marshall Davis of Richmond; three daughters, Sandra (Bairy “Bill”) Parrett, Janice (Ricky) Rhodus and Sharon (Carl) Still, all of Richmond; five sons, Bobby (Nettie) Davis, James (Marilyn) Davis, Walter (Wilma) Davis, Kenneth (Mary Sue) Davis, all of Richmond, and Homer (Jessica) Davis Jr. of Berea; one brother, Chester Davis; three sisters, Iva (Ray) Prather, Madeline (Junior) Reece and Stella (Lewis) Anderson; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one sister, Ruby Hobbs; and two brothers, Jimmy and Edward Davis.

Services for Mr. Davis will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Calvin Marshall and Bro. Elvie Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Davis Family Cemetery on High Reeves Road, Richmond.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Oldham, Roberts & Powell.

Pallbearers will be Jay Davis, Tony Davis, Adam Rhodus, Kenny Davis Jr., Jordan Still and Jason Davis. Honorary bearers will be David Rhodus, Michael Rhodus, Brayden Davis, Chris Cole, Randy Chrisman and Harold Rhodus.
