William Scudder Wilcox

LEXINGTON — William Scudder Wilcox, beloved husband of Martha A. Rosenberg, passed away on January 5, 2014, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Born in Richmond, Kentucky, William was the son of the late, Luther and Christine Wilcox.

William was an Eagle Scout and graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in political science.

From college graduation until his retirement, William was employed in public service through the court system, both state and federal. He was formerly employed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Department of Child Welfare, and the Kentucky Department of Corrections as a probation and parole officer. He also served as supervising United States Probation Officer for the United States Probation Office, Eastern District of Kentucky, and as the district’s firearms instructor.

William is survived by: his wife, Martha; his son, Alexander William Wilcox; his daughter, Christina Rose Wilcox Wood; his nephew, James R. Wilcox; his grandson, Rustin Wood; and his faithful dog, Shadow.

In addition to his family, William was blessed to have close and loving in-laws, cousins and many, many friends he cared for deeply.

A celebration of his life will be conducted at Milward – Man ’O War, 1509 Trent Boulevard, Lexington, on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m.

The family suggests donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, Lexington Humane Society or Disabled American Veterans.
