Harry Lee Cotton, 91

Richmond

RICHMOND — Our beloved Harry Lee Cotton died on April 28, 2013, at 9:45 a.m. in his home after a long illness.

Harry Lee Cotton was born in Madison County on July 18, 1921, and was the fifth child of Brutus and Janie Todd Cotton.

He moved to California after World War II where he worked in the aircraft industry. He worked on a Howard Hughes plane: The Spruce Goose. Later he worked at Douglas Aircraft from which he retired in 1970. He then moved back to Kentucky. He was an accomplished craftsman.

Mr. Cotton was a member of White Oak Pond Christian Church, where he had served as a deacon and elder, and was a past member of the Madison Saddle Club.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Cotton Jackson and Iris Cotton Fox, and a brother, Neville Todd Cotton.

He is survived by: his wife of 66 years, Doris L. Cotton; one son, Don Allen Cotton and wife Lori and their sons, Daniel Cotton and Charlie Cotton, all of Yorktown, Va.; a daughter, Jean Schwab and husband Joe, of Richmond, her daughter, Becky Marshall and husband Robert, their two children, Destiny Richardson and Katrina Marshall, all of Richmond; and her son, PFC Timothy Agee, his wife Felicia and her daughter Mossy Dean, of Camp LeJeune, N.C.

He is also survived by a brother, James Woodrow Cotton, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at White Oak Pond Christian Church with the Rev. Paul Tche and the Rev. Dr. Russell Rechenbach officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the church.

Pallbearers will be Don Cotton, Joe Schwab, Jay Schroyer, Charlie Cotton, Daniel Cotton and Timmy Agee. Honorary pallbearers will be Butch Schroyer, Dale Byers, Robert Marshall and Jim Hart.

Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

    Gary Lee Winburn, 69, of Richmond, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
    A native of Richmond, Kentucky, he was the son of Marcus and Johnetta Arch Winburn, both of whom preceded him in death. Gary had been an employee of the former Begley Drug Company and was a retired employee of Car Quest Auto Parts Store. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richmond.

    She was born March 23, 1940, in Garrard County, Kentucky, to the late Jasper and Mary Stella Moore Prewitt.
    Joyce was a graduate of Buckeye High School, class of 1959. She retired from the Madison County Detention Center as a deputy jailer. She loved raising flowers, working puzzles and watching UK basketball.
