RICHMOND — Loraine Lowery Pearson, 82, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Baptist Health-Richmond.

She was born October 4, 1931, in Madison County at Valley View, to Linzie “Bunk” Lowery and Clara Lyons Lowery, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and served as a Madison County Deputy Jailer for 15 years. Loraine attended Full Gospel and she loved to fish and took great pride with her flowers.

Survivors include: two daughters, Gayle Browne (Al) of Lanexa, Virginia, and Joanie Oliver of Richmond; three sons, Bobby Applegate (Teresa) and Scott Applegate, both of Richmond, and Scott Cates, also of Kentucky; one brother, Nelson Ray Lowery (Louise) of Richmond; two sisters, Mable Lowery of Richmond and Zelma Short of Dayton, Ohio; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: three husbands, Jay Applegate, Les Cates and Stanley Pearson; one daughter, Sandye Hager; one son, Terry Applegate; and three brothers, Kimble, Houston and Eldon Lowery.

Services for Loraine will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2014, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral home with Bro. Ricky Horn officiating. Entombment will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: grandsons Chris Browne, Dale Witt, Travis Applegate, Robert Jay Oliver, Bobby Applegate II, Jason Applegate and Jaycob Applegate.

Honorary bearers will be: granddaughters Tanya Eaves, Tia Browne, Monica Gordon, Courtney Horn and Lauren Applegate.
