KIRKSVILLE — Robert Cecil Tussey Sr., 91, of Kirksville, Kentucky, died Saturday, February 16, 2013.

He was a native of Madison County, born in Cottonburg on March 16, 1921, son of the late Ernest C. and Anna Mae Sebastian Tussey.

He was a farmer, businessman, insurance agent and retired banker having served as an officer and board director of the Kirksville Farmers Bank and later the Bank of Richmond (National City Bank) for over 35 years.

He was a member of the Kirksville Masonic Lodge No. 183, F&AM for over 60 years. He was a member of the Kirksville Christian Church, which he had served as a deacon and treasurer. He attended Kirksville High School and graduated from the Kentucky Military Institute in Louisville.

He lived all his life in the Kirksville area, and later he and his wife Scottie would spend winters as “snowbirds” at Eagle’s Nest in Leesburg, Florida. He enjoyed crappie fishing, hunting and golf. Late in life, his special daily treat was breakfast at Doug and Susie Tussey’s Country Store at Round Hill.

He is survived by: his wife of 71 years, Scottie M. Wylie Tussey; a daughter, Sue Collins Tussey; two sons, Robert C. Tussey Jr. (Lyne) of Lexington and Ronald S. Tussey (Margie); a sister, Iona Tussey Ross; sister-in-law Katty Wylie; brothers-in-law Stanley L. Wylie and Robert Taylor; four grandchildren, Susan Tussey and Robert C. Tussey III of Lexington, Angela Tussey Stephan (Clifford) of San Jose, California, and Ronald Scott Tussey Jr. (Beth) of Richmond; six great-grandchildren, Olivia Starling Tussey, Benjamin Sebastian Tussey and Robert Christian Tussey-Howard of Lexington, Addison Lyne Tussey of Payson, Utah, Anna Grace Stephan of San Jose, California, Owen Samuel Tussey of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Coleman Clay Tussey, and a sister, Mabel Frances Tussey Taylor.

Funeral services for Robert Cecil Tussey Sr., will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home officiated by Dr. J. Donald Graham with Jonathan Tussey assisting. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Robert C. Tussey III, Ronald Scott Tussey Jr., Stanley L. Wylie Jr., Stanley L. Wylie III, Doug Tussey and Clay Tussey. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Hagan, Carl Turner, Stanley L. Wylie, John Sword, Neville Pearson, Bill Grant, Jim Coy M.D., Clifford Stephan and Donald Roberts. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Doug and Susie Tussey and special caregiver Phyllis Lambdin.
