Betty Mae Howard, 76, of Richmond, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, in her home.
She was born May 22, 1936, in Richmond, to the late Raymond and Arzelia Clines Sowers.
She was a retired cook having worked at the Madison County Detention Center and for McDonalds. Betty was a member of Linden Street Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and she enjoyed cookouts and any type of family gathering.
Betty was the widow of Lewis Howard and James King, and in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce King; two sisters, Bert Montgomery and Jewell Eddington and two brothers, Vernon and Richard C. Sowers.
She is survived by one daughter, Faye Winkler; three brothers Stant, Johnny and Floyd Sowers.
She also leaves six grandchildren, Keith Trickler (Rhonda), Shawna Boggs (Kevin), Jason Trickler, Stacey Isaacs (Grant), Heather Winkler and Casandra Trickler; 10 great-grandchildren, Alisha, Aaron, Tiffany, Brittany, Adam, Destinee, Tyler, Andrea, Hunter and Kellie; one special great-great-grandchild Noah Lewis Trickler, special friends, Sandy Fish and Lonnie “Pee Wee” Ward, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Pastors Michael Barnes and Greg King officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Bowen, Raymond Sowers, Vernon Lee Sowers, Stevie Sowers, David Sowers and Grant Isaacs. Honorary bearers will be Doug Thomas, Stevie King, Frankie King, Mike Moody, Dalton Moody and Lee Rhodus.
