BEREA — Robert C. Abrams, age 77, husband of Anne Abrams, died Friday, April 19, 2013 at his home in Berea.

Robert, who grew up in Berea, was retired from the University of Kentucky police department and was a veteran of U.S. Navy and grew up in Berea.

Robert graduated from the Berea Foundation School and Eastern Kentucky University, where he earned a degree in Law Enforcement. He was a Mason and Shriner.

He was married to Anne Collins Abrams for 54 years. They had one son Steve who died Sunday April 14, 2013, in California. Robert also was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Lillian Fraley Abrams.

Joint funeral services for Robert and his son Steve will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Lakes Funeral Home with burial in the Berea Cemetery. Rev. Ed McCurley will officiate services.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lakes Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Vernon Kates, Randy Kates, Jake Jones, David Jackson, W.R. Collins, Ed Baylous, Stephanie Bastin, Margarette Gundry and UK Police Dept. retirees.
