Gloranna ‘Ann’ Wall Short, 91

MADISON COUNTY — Gloranna “Ann” Wall Short, of Madison County, passed away Monday, March 3, at Christian Care Center in Lancaster.

She was born May 22, 1922, to the late Carradine and Fannie Eades Wall. She was a well-known quilter who made over 100 quilts that she gave to family members and friends. She was of the Methodist faith.

Mrs. Short was preceded in death by her husband, Roger C. Short.

She is survived by: five sons, Thomas Wayne Short, James Edwin (B.J.) Short, Billy Roger (Janet) Short, Richard Brian (Connie) Short, all of Richmond, and Charles Short, of Bowling Green; and one daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” (Charlie) Denny of Richmond.

She also has 10 grandchildren, including Katie (Merwyn) Rhodus, Holly and Willie Short of Richmond; four step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, including Macey Lee Rhodus; two sisters, Cordie (Nelson) Rollins of Richmond, and Agnes Cox of Haysi, Virginia; three sisters-in-law, Mary Dorland, Elivra (Dale) Campbell, both of Florida, and Dorothy Wall of Richmond; and lots of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Arthur Ray officiating. Burial will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Robert Thompson, Holly Short, Willie Short, Charlie Denny, Merwyn Rhodus and Jesse Short.
