James ‘Bud’ Monroe Hogsed, 64

RICHMOND — James “Bud” Monroe Hogsed, 64, formerly of Melvin, Ky., passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014.

He had owned and operated a general merchandise store and later a liquor store, both in Melvin.  He was a Christian and attended the Horizon Adult Center in Richmond.

Survivors include one brother, Carl Hogsed (JoLyn) of Richmond; two sisters, Carol Baker (Frederick) of Jamestown, and Rita Hall (Chris) of Louisville; several nieces and nephews, Dawn Allen (Greg), Donald Tackett (Candy), Megan Hall, Carl J. Hogsed (Sarah), Morgan Hall, Ben Hogsed (Lauren), James S. Hogsed, and Kathalena Hogsed; and several dearly beloved great-nieces and nephews, Colby Allen, Madison Allen, Sophia Tackett, Isabella Tackett and John Hogsed.

There will be a memorial service Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. followed by the service at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 21903, Lexington, KY 40522 or at www.donations.Diabetes.org.
