Meredith Leigh Buscher, 22

RICHMOND — Meredith Leigh Buscher, 22, of Richmond, passed away after arrival at the University of Kentucky Medical Center on Sunday, February 9, 2014, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

She was born May 10, 1991, in Lexington, to James and Darlene Shepherd Buscher. She was a graduate of Madison Central High School, where she enjoyed playing softball and volleyball.

Meredith received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky and was a recruiter for Insight Global. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richmond.

Meredith was an easy-to-get-along-with, fun person, who looked for the best in people. She loved hanging out with her friends and family and was always up for making new friends. She loved to be adventurous and studied abroad in Costa Rica as an education ambassador. She spent her time there volunteering at an elementary school teaching children English. She also volunteered as an Alzheimer’s advocate. Her vibrant personality touched everyone she met.

In addition to her parents, James and Darlene, Meredith is survived by: her boyfriend, Will Green; one brother, James F. Buscher and wife Christina of Richmond; her grandmothers, Hazel Shepherd of Richmond and Barbara Buscher of Larkspur, California; one nephew, Weston Buscher; her aunts and uncles, Chloeanna Malone, Bobby and Janet Shepherd, Reggie and Claudia Smith, Vickie Shepherd, Ed Purdom, Jack and Sue Fox and Rene and Nancy Spiegelberg; six cousins, Eddie, Taylor, Leigh Ann, Ryan, Jennifer and Herb; her lifelong friends and her sisters of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority at the University of Kentucky.

Meredith was preceded in death by: her grandfathers, Fred Shepherd and Fred Buscher; and a cousin, Robbie Shepherd.

Services for Meredith will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church, Richmond with the Rev. Jill Ruhl officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will begin 5 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Buscher, Will Green, Bradley Opar, Frank Bicek, David Wagner, Eddie Purdom and Talyor Purdom.

    He was born December 14, 1921, in Bay Springs, Mississippi, to James and Sybil Thigpen Scott, both of whom preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death in 2009 by his wife, Virginia Webb Scott.

    Mrs. Jane E. Coffey, 93, of Richmond, Kentucky, and formerly of Spencer, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2014, at Baptist Health Richmond.
    In 2002, she moved to Richmond to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Jerrilyn and Jack Dyer. She lived in their home until mid 2010 before moving to the Kenwood Nursing Center.
