William Joshua ‘Josh’ Wagers, 41

Charleston, S.C. — William Joshua ‘Josh’ Wagers, 41, of Charleston, S.C., formerly of Lexington and Berea, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014.

He was born Tuesday, April 24, 1973, in Berea to Anga Lee Jennings and William Haden Wagers.

He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1991 then attended the University of Kentucky and the Johnson and Wales Culinary School in Charleston, S.C. A chef at Acme Lowcountry Kitchen on the Isle of Palms, S.C., he had worked at various Charleston restaurants for the past 20 years.

Josh is survived by: his wife, Christine of Charleston; his 4-month-old daughter, Isabella; his father, William Haden Wagers of Berea; his mother, Anga Lee Jennings of Lexington; his grandparents, William and Grace (Speedy) Jennings of Berea; one brother, Ted (Tee) Osborn III of Lexington; three sisters, Tiffany (Bryan) Moody, Kellie (Derek) Hicks and Samantha (Sam) Wagers, all of Berea; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Ralph and Dorothy Wagers; and a cousin, Travis Simpson.

A memorial service will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014, at the First Christian Church, 206 Chestnut Street in Berea, with the Rev. Lon Oliver officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of service. A reception will immediately follow the service in the fellowship hall.

Contributions may be made to the Josh Wagers Memorial Fund at any Central Bank location.
